FCS ADs salute academic progress

NCAA Football Betting Lines

05/20/2010 - Cleveland, OH (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association today announced the inaugural recipients of the Academic Progress Rate Award, which recognizes the highest APR score at each of the 14 FCS conferences during the 2008-09 school year.

In addition, the association named one institution from each conference that improved the most in 2008-09 from the previous school year.

Previously, National Collegiate Athletic Association member colleges and universities adopted a comprehensive academic reform package designed to improve the academic success and graduation of all student-athletes. The centerpiece of the package is the academic measurement for teams, known as the APR.

Each recipient will receive its award on Tuesday, June 22 in conjunction with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Convention in Anaheim, Calif. The FCS recipients are:

Big Sky - Highest: Northern Colorado; Most Improved: Montana

Big South - Highest: Gardner-Webb; Most Improved: N/A

Colonial Athletic Association - Highest: Northeastern; Most Improved: Hofstra

Great West Football - Highest: Cal Poly; Most Improved: Southern Utah

Ivy League: Highest: Penn; Most Improved: Columbia

Mid-Eastern Athletic - Highest: Norfolk State; Most Improved: Florida A&M

Missouri Valley Football - Highest: North Dakota State; Most Improved: Indiana State

Northeast - Highest: Duquesne; Most Improved: Robert Morris

Ohio Valley - Highest: Eastern Kentucky; Most Improved: Jacksonville State

Patriot League - Highest: Colgate; Most Improved: Lehigh

Pioneer Football - Highest: Davidson; Most Improved: Drake

Southern - Highest: Furman; Most Improved: Wofford

Southland - Highest: Sam Houston State; Most Improved: Southeastern Louisiana
