Era Joins Hits For Chicago

Hoping to keep that momentum rolling tonight will be right-hander Max Scherzer, who is 9-4 with a 4.90 ERA. Scherzer, though, is winless in his last three starts and lost his second straight decision on Saturday against the San Francisco Giants, who pounded him for nine runs (six earned) and six hits in just two innings of work.

(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Minnesota Twins try to continue their recent mastery of the Chicago White Sox this evening when the American League Central foes open a four-game series at U.S. Cellular Field. The Twins have beaten the White Sox all four times the teams have met this season and have won seven straight, including the last six in the Windy City. Going back even further, the Twins have won 26 of the last 32 meetings.

"We got to get out there and try to win every series we can," Cuddyer said.

Minnesota starter Francisco Liriano allowed five runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings. Alex Burnett (2-5) gave up four runs on four hits over 1 1/3 frames to suffer the loss.

Chicago will counter with righty Philip Humber, who has won six of his last seven decisions. Humber's latest win came on Saturday against the Cubs, as he scattered five hits over seven scoreless innings to improve to 8-4, while lowering his ERA to 2.69.

Chicago comes into tonight's series following losses in three of its last four games after a 4-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.

"At the end of the day, my job is to keep the game close," Jackson said. "Regardless of how the game starts I have to keep the team within striking distance."

(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Veteran right-hander Livan Hernandez can stretch his unbeaten streak to nearly a month and clinch a sweep for his team when the Washington Nationals finish up a four-game series with the Chicago Cubs tonight at Nationals Park. The Nationals made it three straight against their visitors on Wednesday night, when Michael Morse scored on Wilson Ramos' bunt in the seventh inning, lifting Washington to a 5-4 victory.

Ryan Zimmerman and Danny Espinosa homered for Washington and Zimmerman finished with three hits.

A nursing supervisor at the hospital said all questions about Lucky were being referred to the athletic department. The athletic department said there would be no further comment from the department or Lucky's family.

A Lincoln Police spokesman said officers responded to a call at Lucky's residence 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The spokesman said he didn't know Lucky's condition at the time he was taken to the hospital.

Lucky, from North Hollywood, Calif., started six games last season as a sophomore and was the team's second-leading rusher, with 728 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 32 passes for 383 yards. He averaged 19.1 yards on eight kickoff returns.
